Djab
-
Devils or Demons
-
Generally less powerful then all but the weakest Loa. They hold
malicious designs upon the world in general and humanity in
particular. They 'trade' in Human Souls, specifically the
'Gro-bon-Ange' - The part of the soul which animates
the human body. The gro-bon-ange is an individual and immortal part
of the soul which can pass through stages and MAY eventually become
a Loa. It is THIS part of a human soul that has value to certain
dark creatures. By amassing souls the Djab grow in power and
strength relative the rest of their kind. Some of the Great Djab
are immensely powerful and rival all but the greatest loa in
ability.
-
Some of the Great Djab have names that are known from
history, Baal, Astaroth, Asmodeus, Lilith and others. The lesser
Djab desire such recognition and strive to enhance their status and
power when ever possible.
-
A soul must be given to a Djab freely, it cannot be
tricked or trapped. To gain souls Djab trade powers, abilities,
wealth, items and other things that humans covet.
-
Djab have many of the same powers as the Loa and are
particularly adept at transformation of ordinary objects into things
of great value, gold and jewels in particular.
-
A Djab can take any form it desires, but it has a 'native' form that
it reverts to. The Djab's native form is generally monstrous and
seemingly fantastic. Multiple heads and limbs are common. Parts
from beasts, insects, reptiles and mythical creatures are often
manifested.
-
Djab rarely engage in combat, though they can be formidable
opponents. Instead they utilize their horrific servants the Baka.
